Free Online Alarm Clock & Timer
This is a simple, free online alarm clock and timer that runs entirely in your web browser. There is nothing to download and no account to create. Set a countdown timer for cooking, studying or a workout, use the stopwatch to time anything to a tenth of a second, run a pomodoro focus cycle, set a wake-up alarm, or check the current time across the world. Everything stays on your device.
How to use the online timer
- Pick the Countdown Timer tab.
- Enter the hours, minutes and seconds — or tap a preset like 5 min or 1 hour.
- Press Start. The big display counts down.
- When it reaches zero, an alarm sound plays. Press Reset to run it again.
The tools on this site
- Alarm clock — set one or more wake-up times with a label; alarms are saved on your device.
- Countdown timer — type any duration or use a quick preset; great for cooking, exams and workouts.
- Stopwatch — measure elapsed time to a tenth of a second and record laps.
- Pomodoro — alternating focus and break blocks (default 25/5) that loop automatically.
- World clock — see the current time in major cities and time zones at a glance.
Why the timer stays accurate
Browsers slow down background tabs to save battery, which makes naive timers drift. This tool compares against your computer's real clock on every tick instead of counting intervals, so even if you switch tabs the countdown finishes at the correct moment.
Frequently asked questions
Does the alarm work if I close the tab?
No. The alarm runs in your browser, so the tab must stay open for the sound to play. You can minimize the window, but do not close the tab.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in your browser with no download, signup or plugin required.
Will the alarm be accurate in a background tab?
Yes. We compare against the real system clock instead of counting ticks, so background-tab throttling does not make the timer drift.
Is there any sound by default?
Yes. When a timer or alarm fires, a built-in beep plays using the Web Audio API. You may need to interact with the page once (for example press Start) so the browser allows audio.
Is it really free?
Yes. Every tool on this site is free to use, with no signup. The site is supported by advertising.
